The label
Dub A Sense Records is an independent label from Salzburg, Austria, focused on homegrown reggae, dub and hip hop. Drummer and sound engineer Thomas Mantl founded it in 2024. Behind it is a community of friends who have been making music together since the early 2000s and never stopped loving it. The label gives all these projects a name and one home.

Moby Stick is a reggae band from Salzburg, founded in 2005. Their sound fuses reggae, dub and soul · catchy melodies, rhythmic depth and a lot of stage energy.After the debut “Maison de Plaisir” (2008) came “Raise Ya Voice” (2009), “Follow The Roots” (2012), “Right On Time” (2018) and the “Twisted Reality” sampler (2023). The latest album, “Rearrange”, came out on Dub A Sense Records in September 2024.Moby Stick have played European reggae festivals such as One Love Festival, Seasplash, Reggae Jam, Afrika Tage and Hill Vibes, shared the bill with Lee Scratch Perry, Steel Pulse, Morgan Heritage, Etana and Marcia Griffiths, and worked as backing band for Solo Banton (UK) and Rebellion The Recaller (GAM).

Javentu
Jazz · West African grooves
Javentu are Jacob Gregersen and Vitus Denifl on saxophone, bass and percussion. Since 2021 the duo has been moving through hybrid, groove-driven landscapes · from Nordic jazz and chamber-music poetry to wild, powerful songs with heavy grooves inspired by West African music, hip hop and jungle.Long journeys to Senegal, Brazil and Mali and close collaborations with musicians, dancers and interdisciplinary artists shape their sound.Their second album “Caligo” came out on Dub A Sense Records on 20 June 2025, one year after their debut on the Jazzit label. It expands the duo with Thomas Mantl on drums and multi-instrumentalist and composer Marcelo Politano. Live, Javentu switch between duo and trio · intimate storytellers one moment, driving percussive performers the next.

Ruff I
Dancehall · Dub · Hip hop
Ruff I is a Salzburg artist rooted in dancehall, dub and hip hop, and part of the Dub A Sense Records family.His album “Ruff Tape” (17 January 2014) is a tribute to the roots of dancehall: all songs written by Ruff I, produced by Windshadow on an MPC 2500 with analog sound effects, original 80s Casio tones and self-made synthesizers.Today Ruff I sings in Moby Stick, the band he founded in 2005 together with Windshadow · their album “Rearrange” came out on Dub A Sense Records in 2024. His latest solo track, “Easy And Steady”, appeared in 2025 on the “Nuh Fear Dem Riddim”.

Windshadow

Since 2005, Windshadow has appeared in many line-ups · as drummer with bands such as Moby Stick, Dub-A-Sense and Nigrita & The Mellowbeats, and as turntablist with Schall & Rauch and Raptoar. His solo performance is all about his own instrumental productions.Together with Raptoar he forms the hip hop duo Raptoar × Windshadow · their album “Haragei” came out on Dub A Sense Records in June 2026. He also produced Ruff I’s “Ruff Tape” (2014).Solo, he released the beat tape “Stage One: Sonorous Sand” (2015) and “Zeit|Geld” feat. Fate (2021). He still drums in Moby Stick, recorded and mixed their album “Rearrange”, and works as a sound engineer in his own studio, the Tonschneiderei.

My name is Thomas Mantl aka Windshadow. As head of Dub A Sense Records I am involved in most of the projects myself, whether as artist or as sound engineer. I offer conscientious audio post-production as well as live sound engineering.I have been working as a drummer and live performer for over 20 years, and since 2023 I have also been offering my sound engineering skills professionally. My love for the qualitative implementation of live and studio sound drives me to keep improving and to stand out through conscientious work. Experience with bands, orchestras, film sound and commercial recordings, audio post-production and labels reflects my versatility.

We love hearing new music from Salzburg and beyond. Send a private streaming or download link (Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Dropbox or similar) together with a few lines about you and your music to [email protected] · please no file attachments.Our roots are in reggae, dub and hip hop, but we’re open to anything with its own sound. We listen to every submission. As a small team we can’t answer each one, so we only get back to you if we’d like to work together · usually within six weeks. No reply by then means it’s not a fit this time, but feel free to send us your next one.
